Bonev Violins
Bonev Violins
I am a native of Yambol, Bulgaria residing in Arlington, Texas since 1998. Originally studying Physics in Bulgaria, I worked in woodworking and woodcarving upon coming to the United States. I found a new passion in 2009 when my son started playing the violin and have been creating instruments ever since. So far I have made 70 violins, 1 cello, and 10 violas. Taking a new direction, I began making guitars and ukuleles in 2020.
Most of my violins are made in the Italian or German tradition following designs from Guarneri, Dalla Costa, Rogeri, and Stainer although I have developed several personal models over the years.
I enjoy making unique and untraditional instruments with inlays, carvings, and figurine scrolls. I'm experimenting with archings, graduations, and bracing systems.
